Her cheeks turn a brilliant puce and she holds his arm a little tighter. Honestly? You’re blushing? You are one strange prostitute. She was too nervous to look him in the eyes, glancing at him occasionally instead and concentrating on not tripping on her way out of the TARDIS. She felt his arm leave her as she stepped through, and she probably would’ve pouted if it wasn’t for the magnificent views that met her on the other side of the door.
She stood on the threshold of the ship, staring at the incredibly beautiful scene. Multiple suns and stars were dancing in the sky, their myriad colours like the swishing gowns of the God’s ball.
‘Holy fuck,’ she breathed, unaware of her own words and oblivious to her ladylike ambitions earlier that evening.

He blinks at her words, but only laughs, gazing at the sights. He loves this place. He’s been here twice before, but he tries not to go too often, so the glamour doesn’t get lost on him. He turns to grin at her, and smiles softly. “I take it that means you like it?” He asks softly, a bit curiously as well.

She tears herself away from the rainbows surrounding the waterfalls to look at him. ‘Yes, I love it, it’s perfect. Thank you.’ She’s so overwhelmed she throws her arms around his neck and hugs him enthusiastically.

He’s taken aback, but he wraps one arm around her, and pat her back, grinning. “Ah-no, it was my pleasure, ma’am.” He feels the warmth coming from her skin, a bit more then his temperature, and pulls back a bit, smiling warmly. “I am very, very pleased that you like it.”

“Would you like to take a dip in the pools, or we could go take a walk in the wildlife?”

He’s thinking about her, about how she looks-in the back of his mind whilst making preparations-he’s hoping that he doesn’t look like an utter fool, running around the console like an idiot-and this is the first time that he is grateful that there wasn’t any one else to help him-That he didn’t have anyone around to do that. Because maybe she was impressed? Maybe so? He didn’t quite know what was going on around in that human mind of hers.

He pulls a lever down quite hard, the pole like thing in the middle of his console started going up, and down-there’s a horrible vwrop noise, and he winces, flipping off the parking break, and smiling at her-

“Ah, no, ma’am. I’m fine-” He hits another button, and spins a wheel, and something dings. “-We’re here!” He says, checking the coordinates, making sure the old girl took him where he wanted to go. Yup. He offers his arm again, grinning. “Ready to see those things I was talking about earlier?”

Christ, she’d missed this. Watching him in his element: in control, accomplished and fucking gorgeous, as he piloted his TARDIS brought a massive grin to her face. She hovered in the background, gripping on to the nearest curved surface in case he flies bumpy. (Not that she doesn’t trust him, but, you know, different universes….)

The beautiful, old ship made that bloody noise that Thete’s always made, and she burst into giggles at the look on his face. Some things never change, he’d always sulked about that.

At the dinging sound she returns his smile, ceasing her carefree giggling and attempting regain her ladylike demeanour. However, his effortless, gentlemanly manners make her efforts seem cheap by comparison. She blushes as she takes his arm, looking up at him shyly as she replies. Why does he make me shy? ‘I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.’

“Brilliant. Then it’s my honour to escort you-“

He returns her grin, and escort her to the door, letting her go out first. He would have scouted first, but they were in a relatively safe area, and she would be fine. He kept a eye on her anyways, and watched as she stepped out, and bit his lip, hoping she liked the planet. He clears his throat, and spread his arms, showing her the view of waterfalls, and the ascending suns. “And this is it.” He says, grinning at her, hoping, wishing she liked it, hearts hammering at his chest.

He kisses her back in the most gentle, naive way imaginable, and she feels a few more tears slip down her cheek as she realises this may have been the only real kiss he’s ever had. She lets him pulls away when he wants to, knowing in the back of her mind that this was a risky and impulsive thing to do.

Miraculously, he’s stabilized. He looks like a deer caught in the headlights, and he seems liable to break into sobs again at any time. But - the primary emotion marked on his features is confusion. Utter confusion was better than heart wrenching grief, perhaps. She was suddenly rather embarrassed, feeling like she was naked in front of the jury, and she glanced down to the floor wrapping her arms around herself, desperate for him to fill the echoing silence.

He licks his lip, on impulse, eyes flitting, examining her face. He doesn’t know what to say, or do, but he needs this oppressive silence to end, so he speaks anyways, after clearing his throat. “I-I apologize. I’m shouldn’t be wasting your time with my qualms.” He smiles softly, running a hand through his hair. “Though I appreciate your concern. I promise. You are the first person I’ve admitted this to.” He tells her, nervous.

He’s trying to stabilize himself, back straightening, standing rod still like the soldier he was supposed to be. A rubbish soldier but one that had withstood many wars. There was no reason for him to be sobbing like an infant. He would be fine, like he always was.

Her eyes flick down, embarrassed. Stupid cow, what did you do that for? ‘It’s fine, Ko, anytime.’ She speaks quietly, biting her  lip in between phrases and holding her hands awkwardly in front of her stomach. Her ears prick up a little, when he admits that, but she doesn’t want to make a fool of herself again. ‘Thank you for trusting me.’

He swallows, threading a hand through his hair, tugging on it slightly. He doesn’t know what to say, anything he could think of sounded awkward to his ears. And he doesn’t want to make things awkward again. He clears his throat, and inclines his head to her. “Um. I’m going…to make some repairs on the old girl. You’re more than welcome to take up a room, or explore-she’s got some things she wants to show you, I think.”

-She’s thrilled that he seems genuinely glad to take her with him, and she throws all apprehension out the window for the time being. She wants to enjoy the hope that he’s created, even if it’s just for a little while-

I’m more than interested!

Oh! -She blushes deep crimson herself, taken aback by his sudden compliment and his charming, gentle nature. -

Okay, um, thanks, uh….closet please. -she cleared her throat and smiled at him, rendered uncharacteristically shy-

I’m very glad that you are, ma’am.

-he flushes even deeper, and nods.-

Um-well, come this way, then.

She is led to the closet and spends an embarrassing amount of time screaming into a pillow like an Earth teenager who’s been asked on her first date. Then she realises that it’s rude to keep him waiting, and runs around the closet trying to find something perfect.

That was a very bad idea too, and she considered sticking her head out of the door to ask him about the weather.

It all too so long, with so many beginnings and mind changes, that she just ended up throwing on something summery and flyng out of the door.

‘Ko? I’m ready.’

He rocks back and forth on his feet, waiting for her. He’s patient-he’s used to waiting on things, and he was very, very good at this. When she comes out, he grins, examining her, and then offers his arm to her. She was gorgeous, but he’s too embarrassed to tell her that. “Let’s get going then, ma’am.” And escorts her to the console room, where he readies the old girl for flight.

She grins sheepishly in return, and takes his arm, her heart fluttering a little at his immaculate manners. She hadn’t been treated like this for a long time. She’s taken to the console room - different from any she’s been in - and hangs back awkwardly, waiting for him to finish his preparations. She doesn’t know how to feel about this - so she’s not thinking about it. The coward’s way out? Maybe.

All she knew was this was thrilling and good. She watched him flit about with a small smile on her face, fond and not so fond memories fighting for purchase on her consciousness.

‘Can I get you anything, love?’

She feels his grip tighten and his entire body tenses in her arms, shaking from the effort of not crying. She doesn’t know what to do, how to help him. She’s never known how to help him.

Her heart’s in her throat with worry and she just wants to comfort him, to keep him together any way she can.

So she kisses him.

She doesn’t plan it, she just sees his lost eyes and kisses him softly, staining his cheeks with her own tears.

He doesn’t know how it happens. One second he’s sobbing into her shoulder, and then the next he’s being kissed. The movement in between that is incomplete. Inefficient. Not there. He can’t remember the time between the two events, and for a moment that worries him.

But then he’s engulfed in the feeling of her lips. Her lips against his, and he can’t think. He can’t breathe-this-this feeling, is so unfamiliar. He’s never encountered something like this. Her lips are soft-slightly chapped, but soft. She’s not moving, there is no click of their teeth, and this isn’t painful. He doesn’t understand, but he kisses back, as much as he understood how.

His sobs have stopped, and now there’s this…weird feeling in his chest, that he can’t define. He pulls back, confused, and blinking. His face is streaked with tears, and breath sporadic, but he’s calmed down immensely. He doesn’t know what to do, nor say, and he just looks at her, utterly confused as to what has just happened.

You’re gorgeous now-But, if you’d like to change, then be my guest-I can show you the closet if you like. -he flushes a deep red after that, admonishing himself for not being able to compliment someone without blushing.-

‘Koschei, darling -’ Her voice catches in her throat as her own eyes spill over with tears. She felt terrible, letting it affect her like this, but it was just unbearable watching him beat himself up again. Every time, every Koschei she’d known, no matter how different their hardships, their worries: they all blamed themselves. It didn’t matter whether it was the drums, this abuse, or Gallifrey, they blamed themselves entirely and never stopped punishing themselves for it.

‘Stop it, please, you can’t - you mustn’t - ’ She holds his trembling form as if she’s the only thing holding him together, feeling helpless, alone, and very much like she’s been here before. ‘It’s not your fault.’ She said the words for the hundredth time, and knew that they still wouldn’t change anything.

He trembles in her grip, not sure how to take this. He has this weighted guilt on his chest that he’s always carried around. He doesn’t know how to get rid of it, and it hurts to think about. He usually pushed it to the side, and ignored it, but with her..he can’t ignore it. It hurts. It hurts him that he can’t have a healthy relationship with Theta-Can’t have that with anyone. It burns, and makes him ache. He doesn’t quite now how to fix it.

He hiccups out a sob, trying to press against her. She’s keeping him together, just barely. If she wasn’t here, he’d be falling apart by now. He anchors himself to her, trying not to drift away like the last time.

She feels his grip tighten and his entire body tenses in her arms, shaking from the effort of not crying. She doesn’t know what to do, how to help him. She’s never known how to help him.
